My Therapeutic Approach

Every session is unique.  The first session or two typically focus on your history, your day-to day life, and the reasons that you are seeking counseling.

Our work in future sessions will be like putting together a puzzle.  Individual pieces may seem to be unrelated or even unimportant, but as we discover and connect more and more pieces, we can see the big picture more clearly.  Together, we develop a better picture of your life’s puzzle.

I have a warm, supportive, and interactive style, and I actively listen with an objective and compassionate ear.  I like to provide psycho-education to help clarify and develop the mind/body connection.  I also provide a gentle nudge when that seems appropriate and beneficial.

I use a variety of proven counseling techniques.  My fundamental approach is IFS (Internal Family Systems), where I have completed Second-level trainings.  IFS provides the roadmap to gaining insights for handling most challenges from a place of curiosity, compassion, calm, courage, clarity, connectivity and creativity.
